Leaves Greyish green, awl shaped, succulent and 1.5cm long

Flowers Are small and insignificant, occurring in the leaf axils.

Fruit Are attractive red or orange berries appearing in summer.

Propagation Is by tip cutting taken at any time of the year or by seed.

Aboriginal uses: The fruits are edible and sweet. Used also as body paint for children. The leaves, (which have a high vitamin C content), were eaten as a green vegetable by the early settlers.
