There is extensive birdlife at Carrisbrook
and as you walk along the trail the sounds
echo through the trees.
Magpies are the most easily spotted
but there are some resident parrots
and kookaburras amongst other species.
Butterflies dart in and out as you walk along,
we have seen black and orange varieties.
We have never been to the park
without anyone to else there.
A cyclist or runner zooms passed.
Usually it is a fellow walker
who is quite happy to say hello
Carrisbrook Park is located on the Main North Road
on the border between Salisbury and Elizabeth Vale.
The park is in constant use by locals and we have never been to the park without seeing another person. With extensive grassed areas, playground and facilities it is ideal for family gatherings. We have even seen a romantic couple or two,
lazing on the grass enjoying the sunset.
Along with the Old Spot Hotel opposite it is an icon of the area.
My husband used to live in Elizabeth Vale and has many
stories to tell as we wander through the park.
The walking trails in Carrisbrook Park offer a variety of terrains to cover. One can go straight up on the flatter trail toward Salisbury, over the grassed area towards Harry Bowey Reserve or follow the trail along the river. It is the latter trail that my husband and I prefer. It offers more shade than the other trails and the river offers a pleasant diversion. The terrain undulates in several areas but not at an unreasonable level. .
When you look at one side and then the other,
one wonders as to how big the river originally was
because it seems to incredible to imagine.
Carrisbrook Park offers good walking trails with some
up and down terrain to give you a good workout.
